Contractual Disputes

Cover under this section is in two parts. Firstly to enable you to pursue a claim against a party from whom you have purchased goods or services for your own personal use and those goods or services have subsequently proved to be defective. An example would be a holiday which was unsatisfactory because information in the holiday brochure turned out to be wrong (distance from local amenities, availability of swimming pool etc).

The second element of the contract cover is for the defence of actions brought by a party to whom second hand goods have been sold by you. For example the sale of a personal computer which is then alleged to be defective.

Personal Injury

Cover under this section provides for the pursuit of claims for compensation arising from an injury caused by another party’s negligence. A typical example would be injury sustained by you when a passenger in a motor vehicle or an accident at work.

Employment Disputes

If you felt that you had been unfairly dismissed indemnity under this section of cover would give you the means to pursue a claim at Employment tribunal for compensation or reinstatement.

Disputes relating to the purchase or sale of the home

There are many areas where disputes could arise during the purchase or sale of the home.

A typical example would be a claim against a surveyor who has failed to report on a fault with the property that subsequently affects it’s market value or where the seller’s have made incorrect statements in the Property Information Form.

Disputes relating to nuisance or trespass

Cover under this section gives you the ability to pursue a claim against a party who has infringed your legal rights in relation to the home through nuisance or trespass.

An example would be a neighbour erecting a wall which cuts out light to your home or moving a boundary fence.

Physical Damage to the Home

If the home is damaged as a result of another party’s negligence cover under this section would provide you with indemnity in respect of legal costs incurred in order to pursue a claim for compensation.

Data Protection Act

If personal data relating to you held by a third party is misused, resulting in financial loss, cover under this section would give you the ability to pursue a claim for compensation.
